In light of the current state of our Nation, many businesses are seeing the need for Security services at their locations. This trend is due to both external and internal risk factors. A majority of companies see outsourcing their Security as a more financially wise decision than forming an internal department. This assessment is based upon wages, insurance costs, benefit costs, and liability costs. Because of these factors, the private security business is booming!

Any person interested in entering in to a career in the Security industry must be willing to disregard any pre-conceived notions they might have about “the doughnut eating, nap-taking, cake job” that they are applying for. Security is a multifaceted job and you will work hard. Applicants must be WILLING TO WORK!

Self motivation is a key trait that we look for in applicants. Security is a 24 hour a day, 365 day a year operation. Applicants must be flexible and dependable. There is very little “day shift” work in our industry. These types of assignments are generally given to those with seniority and experience. Applicants must understand that their first several assignments will include evening and weekend work. Holidays are also required. Additionally, applicants must acknowledge the unique nature of our operation. As compared to employment in a group setting, such as a warehouse or assembly line, simply “calling off” or not showing up for work is detrimental to the entire operation of the company. A predetermined number of staff members are trained per location. When you have been trained and assigned to a job site, attendance is paramount. As a staff member, you must be willing to travel regardless of weather conditions. A strong work ethic and punctuality are necessary for survival within the industry.

Our industry thrives on report writing, record keeping, and dealing with the public. It is essential for candidates and staff members to possess strong reading, writing, and verbal skills. They must also be confident and comfortable dealing with the public and be able to testify in court.

Applicants and staff members must possess and demonstrate good judgment and common sense, be of good character, be able to follow directions accurately and completely, be alert, possess mental toughness, be able and willing to perform emergency response, be able to work in a position that is routine based, and possess the physical capability to sit, walk, stand or a combination of the three for long hours. All staff members will be held to a variety of professional expectations and a code of conduct.

Applicants must be at least 18 years of age, have a valid Pennsylvania driver’s license, and reliable transportation. Applicants must have a high school diploma or the equivalent. Applicants must be able to pass a criminal background search that satisfies the requirements of the Private Detective Act of 1953 and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Act 34, Act 151 and Act 114, related to the Department of Education requirements, and as referenced in Pennsylvania Title 18, Crimes and Offenses.
